# Export Declaration Form > A free tool and guide for Indian service and software exporters preparing their monthly Export Declaration Form (EDF). The EDF generator is powered by Skydo, an RBI licensed cross-border payments platform. The tool prepares the form only; it does not submit it to the bank or issue an eBRC. ## Key facts - From 1 Oct 2026, under the FEMA (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026, service and software exporters file one EDF a month covering all of that month's invoices. - Source: RBI notification FEMA 23(R)/2026-RB dated 13 Jan 2026, as amended up to 22 Sep 2026 (https://www.rbi.org.in/Scripts/NotificationUser.aspx?Id=13277). - Deadline counts from the end of the invoice month, not the invoice date. Non-software services may instead file on or before the date payment is received; software has no payment-date option. - On 7 Oct 2026, RBI clarified that individuals are not covered for transactions of a personal nature; RBI FAQs are pending. - SOFTEX applies to software exports up to 30 Sep 2026; software exports from 1 Oct 2026 use the EDF, and the AD bank can certify them (STPI optional). - Where to file: services → AD bank; software → AD bank or STPI; SEZ units → SEZ Development Commissioner. - Freelancers and individuals may be exempt; confirm with your AD bank. - Deadlines: file within 30 days after month end; the bank logs the EDF in EDPMS within 5 working days; payment within 9 months of the invoice date (12 months for INR invoices). - Required documents: invoices (PDF/JPG/PNG), business PAN, AD bank branch and AD code, SAC code per service, exchange rate for INR conversion. Optional: GSTIN, IEC, contract number. - If things slip: filed late → ask your bank for more time; client paid late → ask for an extension; no EDF → payment shows as unmatched and may be held; unpaid a year past due → future exports may need advance payment or a letter of credit; invoices up to ₹10 lakh → close on your own declaration; banks can't penalise regulatory delays but can charge reasonable fees. - Tool steps: 1) upload invoices, 2) check details, 3) add bank and SAC codes, 4) download the EDF, 5) submit it to your bank (done by the user). ## Links - [Create an EDF (free tool)](https://www.skydo.com/tools/edf-export-declaration-form-generator?utm_source=Blogs&utm_campaign=edf_website&utm_content=exportdeclarationform) - [Home](https://exportdeclarationform.com/) - [EDF Form (Export Declaration Form): RBI Filing Guide for 2026](https://exportdeclarationform.com/blog) - [Full guide and FAQ as Markdown](https://exportdeclarationform.com/llms-full.txt) - [Skydo](https://www.skydo.com/?utm_source=Blogs&utm_campaign=edf_website&utm_content=exportdeclarationform)
